Privacy Policy

Introduction

Breathing Space is an iOS app that helps you use selected apps and websites more intentionally. It uses Apple Screen Time to provide recurring reminders, daily limits, and automatic protection during the work and sleep schedules you set. When a limit or schedule blocks access, Breathing Space may ask you to complete a breathing pause before granting temporary time.

This policy explains what information Breathing Space processes, where it is stored, and how it is used.

Information Stored on Your Device

Breathing Space stores app data locally so it can operate its reminder, limit, schedule, and temporary-access features. This local data may include:

• Apps, websites, or categories you choose to protect, represented by Apple Screen Time tokens where applicable.
• Protection settings, such as reminder intervals, daily limits, work and sleep schedules, temporary access, and your daily reset time.
• Setup and runtime state for Screen Time policies and system shields.
• Local activity counters and state, such as reminder choices, additional minutes granted, and whether a daily limit is active.
• Subscription entitlement state, such as whether Breathing Space Pro is currently active.

The app and its Apple extensions use this information to apply Screen Time shields, maintain local statistics, grant temporary access, and enforce free or Pro feature limits. Screen Time selections, protection settings, and activity counters stay on your device. Subscription status is also processed by Adapty as described below.

Screen Time and Device Activity

If you choose to connect Screen Time, Breathing Space uses Apple’s Family Controls, Managed Settings, Device Activity, and Device Activity Report APIs. These APIs let you select apps, categories, or websites, apply system shields, and view activity summaries on your device.

The activity report may show local summaries such as total usage time, pickups, notifications, and top apps, categories, or web domains for the selected time range. Breathing Space displays this report in the app. It does not send the report data to our servers.

System Shields and Temporary Access

Apple Screen Time may display a system shield when a reminder, daily limit, work schedule, or sleep schedule is active. Breathing Space does not read content inside the protected app or website. If you request temporary access in Breathing Space, the app stores the granted time and related state locally so its extensions can update the shield.

Purchases and Subscriptions

Breathing Space offers optional auto-renewable subscriptions for Breathing Space Pro. Purchases, renewals, cancellations, refunds, and payment methods are handled by Apple through StoreKit and the App Store.

Breathing Space does not receive your payment card number, billing address, or App Store account password. The app uses Adapty to validate Apple purchase information and determine whether Pro access is active. Apple may process purchase and subscription information under Apple’s own privacy policy and App Store terms.

Subscription Services

We use Adapty to provide subscription screens, validate purchases, restore access, and manage Pro access. Adapty processes purchase and subscription records, including product identifiers, transaction information, prices, currency, renewal and expiration status, and refunds. It associates these records with an anonymous app profile and processes technical information such as app and operating system versions, device model, language, country, and device identifiers such as the identifier for vendors (IDFV). An anonymous profile does not mean the records cannot be associated with a particular device.

We also use Adapty for subscription revenue analytics and Apple Ads attribution. Apple’s AdServices information can help associate an app installation and subscription revenue with an Apple Ads campaign. This processing is separate from optional Mixpanel product analytics and continues if you decline Mixpanel analytics. We do not send your Screen Time selections, activity reports, protection names, or schedule times to Adapty. We do not provide an email address or a custom account identifier.

Our Adapty configuration disables collection of the advertising identifier (IDFA) and the SDK’s separate IP address collection feature, including when you allow tracking. In version 1.7, SDK install attribution is enabled at startup only when your App Tracking Transparency status is authorized. Servers still receive network connection information, and disabling the SDK’s separate IP collection feature does not mean attribution servers cannot process an IP address. Analytics, Advertising, and Tracking

With your explicit consent, the Bspace website and Breathing Space iOS app use Mixpanel to understand how people use the product and improve the experience. Mixpanel product analytics remain disabled if you decline. You can change your choice at any time from the website footer or the app’s Settings screen.

Website analytics may include pages viewed, App Store button clicks, referring domain, campaign parameters, browser and device type, and approximate region derived from network information. With analytics consent, Mixpanel may also estimate your country, region, and city from the network IP address used to send app events. This is approximate location, not GPS location. App analytics may include onboarding progress, Screen Time permission outcomes, whether a protection or schedule was configured, counts of configured protections or schedule intervals, breathing-gate completion, additional time granted, temporary work access, paywall views, and purchase outcomes.

We do not send selected app names, Apple Screen Time tokens, activity reports, browsing content, pause history for a particular app, names, email addresses, or advertising identifiers to Mixpanel. Mixpanel processes analytics as our service provider under its privacy policy. When you consent, campaign attribution may be included in Mixpanel events to help us understand acquisition performance. Advertising attribution through Adapty is described below. We do not use a TikTok integration in the current configuration.

Advertising Attribution and Meta

We use Adapty Attribution to measure how advertising on Meta services, including Facebook and Instagram, leads to app installations and subscriptions. Advertising links record campaign and click information before redirecting to the App Store. On iOS, Adapty describes matching a later installation to a click using IP address ranges and technical information such as operating system, language, country, device model, and timing.

For users attributed to our Meta campaigns, Adapty is configured to send installation, trial-start, subscription-start, and trial-conversion events to our Meta dataset through the Conversions API. Installation events use the Meta event name Lead; this does not mean you submitted a contact form. Subscription events may include product, value, currency, event time, and information used to match a conversion to advertising. We use this processing to measure our campaigns and help Meta optimize them. Renewals, cancellations, refunds, and payment errors are not enabled for forwarding in this configuration.

We do not send Screen Time selections, activity reports, protected app names, schedule times, or a Mixpanel identifier to Meta through this integration. We do not add a Meta SDK or Meta Pixel to the app or website. Meta’s processing is described in its privacy policy.

The Mixpanel analytics preference controls Mixpanel only. Declining it does not change your App Tracking Transparency permission or disable Adapty subscription services. Allowing tracking does not turn on Mixpanel analytics. The app does not display ads; the advertising measurement described here concerns ads for Breathing Space shown on Meta services.

App Tracking Transparency and Your Choices

In version 1.7, Breathing Space uses Apple’s system App Tracking Transparency request for advertising measurement. If you have not already made a choice and iOS permits the request, it appears during app startup while the app is active, before Adapty is first activated. If you decline or iOS restricts tracking requests, the app starts Adapty without SDK install attribution enabled. Purchases, restore, and the app’s other features remain available regardless of your choice. A separate analytics consent screen does not replace Apple’s tracking permission.

You can manage tracking permission in iOS Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking. The app respects an existing decision and does not show a replacement advertising permission prompt if iOS does not allow the system request. When you return to the app, it sends your current ATT status to Adapty. SDK install attribution is configured at startup, so fully close and reopen the app after changing permission for that startup setting to reflect your new choice.

Changing tracking permission does not remove an earlier attribution or delete data already processed. Sending an updated permission status to Adapty does not guarantee that attribution requests already underway or server-side subscription events and queues stop immediately. Earlier app versions may not include this ATT permission flow. The startup behavior described in this section applies to version 1.7.

Data Sharing

We do not share your local Breathing Space settings, Screen Time selections, activity report data, or app-specific pause statistics with third parties. If you consent to analytics, the limited event data described above is processed by Mixpanel on our behalf. Adapty processes the subscription and attribution information described above. Meta receives the selected advertising conversion information described above. Apple may process data needed to provide Screen Time, StoreKit, App Store purchases, and other Apple platform services, as described in Apple’s own policies.

Retention and Deletion

Data stored by Breathing Space remains on your device unless you change or remove a configuration, reset statistics where that option is available, or delete the app. Deleting the app removes its local data from your device, subject to normal iOS behavior.

Apple and Adapty retain purchase and subscription records to provide their services. Deleting the app does not automatically delete these server records. To manage or cancel a subscription, use your Apple Account subscription settings.

You can stop future Mixpanel analytics collection at any time through Analytics Preferences on the website or Analytics in the app’s Settings. This preference does not delete previously collected data, disable subscription services, or change your ATT permission. Advertising permission and its limits are described in “App Tracking Transparency and Your Choices” above. To request deletion of analytics or subscription-service data associated with your app profile, contact us at the address below. We may need information to locate the correct profile; some records may need to be retained for legal or accounting requirements.

Children

Breathing Space is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when the app changes, when we add or remove features, or when legal requirements change.
