Introduction
Breathing Space is an iOS app that helps you open selected apps with intention. It can show a short breathing pause before an app opens, and it can use Apple Screen Time features to show usage reminders and daily limits for apps, websites, or categories you choose.
This policy explains what information Breathing Space processes, where it is stored, and how it is used.
Summary
- Breathing Space does not require an account and does not ask for your name, email address, phone number, contacts, location, photos, camera, microphone, or health data.
- Breathing Space does not send your selected apps, Screen Time activity, breathing pause statistics, settings, or activity history to our servers.
- The app stores its settings and activity counters locally on your device and, where needed, in an Apple App Group shared between the app and its extensions.
- Purchases and subscriptions are processed by Apple through StoreKit and the App Store.
- The current version does not include third-party analytics, advertising SDKs, or tracking SDKs.
Information Stored on Your Device
Breathing Space stores app data locally so it can operate its pause, reminder, and limit features. This local data may include:
- Apps, websites, or categories you choose to protect, represented by Apple Screen Time tokens where applicable.
- Protection settings, such as opening pause settings, reminder intervals, daily limits, bedtime rules, and daily reset time.
- Setup state for Shortcuts automations and Screen Time policies.
- Local activity counters, such as attempts, openings, cancellations, confirmed usage minutes, and daily block state.
- Subscription entitlement state, such as whether Breathing Space Pro is currently active.
This information is used by the app and its Apple extensions to show pauses, apply Screen Time shields, keep local statistics, and enforce the free or Pro feature limits. We do not receive this information from your device.
Screen Time and Device Activity
If you choose to connect Screen Time, Breathing Space uses Apple Family Controls, Managed Settings, Device Activity, and Device Activity Report APIs. These Apple APIs allow the app to let you select apps, categories, or websites, apply system shields, and display activity summaries on your device.
The activity report may show local summaries such as total usage time, pickups, notifications, and top apps, categories, or web domains for the selected time range. Breathing Space displays this report in the app. It does not send the report data to our servers.
Shortcuts and Opening Other Apps
Breathing Space can work with Apple Shortcuts automations and App Intents. When you create an automation for a supported app, Shortcuts can open Breathing Space first so the app can show a pause screen. If you choose to continue, Breathing Space may open the selected app using its URL scheme or a web fallback URL.
When you leave Breathing Space and open another app or website, that third-party app or website is governed by its own privacy policy.
Purchases and Subscriptions
Breathing Space offers optional auto-renewable subscriptions for Breathing Space Pro. Purchases, renewals, cancellations, refunds, and payment methods are handled by Apple through StoreKit and the App Store.
Breathing Space does not receive your payment card number, billing address, or App Store account password. The app checks subscription entitlement information provided by Apple so it can unlock Pro features on your device. Apple may process purchase and subscription information under Apple’s own privacy policy and App Store terms.
Analytics, Advertising, and Tracking
The current version of Breathing Space does not include third-party analytics SDKs, advertising SDKs, or tracking SDKs. We do not use your data for advertising, and we do not sell your personal information.
If we add analytics or similar services in the future, we will update this Privacy Policy and the App Store privacy disclosures before collecting analytics data through those services.
Data Sharing
We do not share your local Breathing Space settings, Screen Time selections, activity report data, or pause statistics with third parties. Apple may process data needed to provide Screen Time, StoreKit, App Store purchases, and other Apple platform services, as described in Apple’s own policies.
Retention and Deletion
Breathing Space data stored by the app remains on your device unless you change or remove app setups, reset statistics where the app provides that option, or delete the app. Deleting the app removes its local app data from your device, subject to normal iOS behavior.
App Store purchase and subscription records are managed by Apple. To manage or cancel a subscription, use your Apple Account subscription settings.
Children
Breathing Space is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when the app changes, when we add or remove features, or when legal requirements change. The updated policy will show a new last updated date.
